Devlog #40 - Holiday Event & Battle Pass Prep
Perseus came up with a great 2023 Christmas event which is going on now and will last until January 19th. More will be rolled out next week.
"Hey everyone, Perseus here. The Holidays are rolling around and it's time to celebrate with our Christmas Mini-Event! I hope everyone is in the mood for a little grind.
It looks like a few of Santa's Elves have landed in town but are in need of some help... I'll leave it up to you guys to figure out which mobs drop event items, though there should be quite a few. The event will run at least through Christmas and maybe a few days after so people who are travelling won't miss out. I'm finishing up the event rewards which will be purchasable from Tinkerer Tim for some Claus Coins starting next week. It'll have cool goodies and maybe a random coin box? I also heard that Moriarty is cooking up a set as well, so hopefully we'll be able to see that available at Tinker Tims soon too! Items will be crafted individually so start stocking up on Claus Coins now. Thanks to Gamer for being down to implement everything at the last minute too haha. More to come and I hope to see you guys online!"

There's a lot of good stuff in there. Faction XP bugs are mostly solved now. Cave of Some Return is done for now but it will have treasure chests for the lock pick of course. Swamp Grotto has many more spawns, most of which are involved in the holiday event. Lots of good progress and bug fixes.
The remaining work for Swamp Grotto is a couple more spawns, several drops, 10 quests, shops. Not a huge amount of work as Perseus already created all the sprites and icons required. We'll see if it can get done before 2024 arrives.
I'm in the process of converting Mirabella Cove to the new game map format. I'll hopefully have that up on the test server in the coming week.
Speaking of 2024...
On January 1st active patrons will be getting Gem rewards along with the very first FO2 Battle Pass item for free. The Battle Pass item will be a consumable that, when used, unlocks a specific Battle Pass within the upcoming Battle Pass window. This means that in the future you'll be able to have several Battle Passes going at the same time if you so choose, but you can only have one of each kind of Battle Pass going at a time. Also, Battle Pass consumable items will be purchasable for 100 Gems if you want to do it several times.
Here are the details I've decided on so far:
* 80 tiers
* Each tier requires 2,000 Battle Pass xp to complete.
* Battle Pass xp can be gained from killing any mob. Level 1-9 mobs give 1 xp, level 10-19 mobs give 10 xp, level 20-29 mobs give 20 xp. That means it will take about 100 kills per tier.
* Tiers can be skipped for 5 Gems.
* 60 days to complete from when you use the consumable Battle Pass item.
* Each tier will have a reward.
* 20 of the tiers will be various kinds of double xp potions.
* 10 of the tiers will contain 10 Gems.
* 10 of the tiers will be for pieces of two new cosmetic sets.
* 10 Battle Pass exclusive quests.
* 10 consumable items which augment existing items.
* 10 rare or expensive crafting materials.
* 10 rewards that are still being designed.
This first Battle Pass will be winter themed. It will be given to all active patrons in January for free. It will also be available for purchase from Gemster in Crab Coast during the winter months every year.
This means I'll be working on xp potions, consumable item augmenters, and the Battle Pass UI this week. I'll explain what these augmenters are in the future but I'm sure everyone will like them.
